Analysis of the Core Principles and Applications of Laser Lens Sysytem (Part 2)

Main Application Fields

Laser lenses have extremely wide applications, mainly reflected in the following aspects:

Laser Radar (LiDAR)

- Function: Used for environmental perception and 3D modeling in fields such as autonomous driving, robotics, and topographic mapping.
- Role of Lenses: Emit specific laser patterns (e.g., line lasers, area-array lasers) and receive the returned optical signals. The lenses here need to be highly precise to accurately control the field of view, resolution, and ranging accuracy.

Structured Light 3D Sensing

- Function: Applied in mobile phone Face ID recognition, 3D scanning, motion-sensing games (e.g., Kinect), and industrial inspection.
- Role of Lenses: The core component is the Diffractive Optical Element (DOE), which diffracts a single laser beam into a complex pattern (structured light) composed of tens of thousands of speckles and projects it onto the object surface. The 3D contour of the object is calculated by capturing the deformed pattern through a camera.

Laser Display and Projection

- Function: Serve as display sources in laser TVs, laser projectors, and AR/VR glasses.
- Role of Lenses: Combine, homogenize, and scan RGB three-color laser beams, or modulate them via micro-display chips (e.g., DLP, LCoS), then project high-definition images through projection lenses. Laser light sources have the advantages of a wide color gamut and high brightness.

Industrial Processing and Measurement

- Function: Used for laser cutting, welding, marking, engraving, cleaning, etc.
- Role of Lenses: Focusing lenses concentrate the energy of high-power lasers into micron-level light spots, generating extremely high energy density for material processing. There are also red indicator light lenses for positioning.

Aiming and Indication

- Function: Applied in laser pointers, weapon scopes, and architectural laser levels.
- Role of Lenses: Mainly collimating lenses, which generate a clear light spot or crosshair visible at long distances.
